Hey,
I`ve got a 1997 F-350 5spd that was my dads and he bought with 28k on it. It now has 325+k on it and still runs superb. The truck is mine now. It still runs very well and probably hasn`t had over $2,500 in repairs since he bought the truck. I have had the truck for about 3 years now but it is now my daily driver/ do-all rig. I am looking to get some more power out of it, but am unsure of the best method to take. I have seen systems such as the banks power pack, chips, intercoolers and so on. The one thing that I am concerned with is that some of these systems show a extreme increase in turbo boost. I know boost is the best way to make power but I know overdoing it is the best way to blow a head gasket. So I just want some suggestions that would be good for this truck. I want as much power as I can get with out sacrificing reliablilty and blowing the bank.
Thanks

Well, if you throw more fuel at it, you are going to have more exhaust...thus more boost. Just get like a 60HP tune or something mild and be good with that. Put an intake and exhaust on it as well as some gauges to monitor the vitals.

a 4 inch exhaust, pyrometer, and a dp tuner.
the dp tuner is the only way to go with a 7.3
banks bullydog and the others make power, but don`t address the weak trans. the DP tuner reprograms the engine and trans.

well, you asked how to get more power. the only way to get more power is with a computer chip like the DP tuner

i would get a DPtuner with the no start, 60hp tow, and 80 hp economy tunes.
if you want to go beyond that, get the 120 race tune. a F5 chip with 3 tunes, switch, and wire will run you around $350
325k miles is not high miles for a properly maintained engine. we have a few 7.3`s with over 500k miles on them.

Excuse me TJ !!! I dont apprieciate you talking down about our site. I dont know where you decided that we are kids, I help started PSN back in 2007 and Ive been a mod since day one. So before you go bashing another site please hold your comments to yourself about what you dont know. I sure every FORD DIESEL thats been in the Diesel Power Mag is on the Nation, Comp D, TDG. Org and other forums as well.
Are you a Ford Diesel Tech ? How much have you pushed your Diesel ? What turbo are you running ? What fuel system ? What HPOP ? What performance mods do you have ? What are your numbers on the dyno, Track ? BUT I dont see you driving around in a 1000 HP 7.3. or 1000 HP 6.0. There are alot of well knowledge guys on the Nation. That have pushed the powerstrokes till there breaking point, now even the 6.4 Which Mike has been in the Diesel Power Mag Twice now. Oh wait we are kids we dont know what we are doing thats why the guys with true numbers and hp and gains breaking records are on there really make sense doesnt it.
Yes Every site has there kids which ones dont ????? Thats right everyone has them wether or not you noticed it or not. OH wait look just checked out your member list on there and alot of the names look fimiliar as well. Im also part of 5 different forums, and the Nation keeps me busy as a Moderator.
